Carbon Footprint Calculator

Enter the fuel your generators and vehicles burn and the electricity you buy. You get your Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions in tonnes, and what a cut in generator use would save.

What the scopes mean

  • Scope 1 is fuel your organisation burns itself: generators, company vehicles, boilers.
  • Scope 2 is the electricity you buy from the grid.
  • Scope 3 is everything else in your value chain: purchased goods, business travel, staff commuting, waste, and the use of what you sell. It is usually the largest and the hardest to measure, and it is not included here.

Why generators matter so much in Nigeria

A litre of diesel releases about 2.7 kg of CO₂ when it burns. Many Nigerian organisations run generators for hours every day, so Scope 1 is often bigger than Scope 2, the reverse of what footprint tools built for Europe or America assume.

From an estimate to a report

IFRS S2, the climate standard Nigeria is adopting, asks for Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions measured in line with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol. This calculator gives you a first number. Our finance advisory team verifies the data behind it, adds Scope 3 and turns it into a reduction plan. To see how ready you are overall, take the ESG Readiness Check.
